Bulgaria\'s famous Bansko mountain resort, a haven for winter sports that has been seeking a year-round appeal, will halt construction works on December 1, awaiting for the first holiday-makers.
The announcement was made by mayor Alexander Kravarov at a meeting with more than thirty investors and construction companies. The ban will remain in force by April 1, 2008 and will bring changes in the resort traffic. The resort town that sits 150km south of Bulgaria\'s capital, Sofia, has seen lately construction and improvements going on apace and the tourism industry booming after decades of stagnation. Last winter tourists at the hotspot mountain resort however dropped by 15 % due to poor advertising and warm weather.
