The beautiful fortress-like houses with broad wine-cellars cut in the limestone rocks date from this period.

That is why the Melnik houses seem perched one above the other, so close as though they are whispering something to each other.

About the Region of Blagoevgrad

Blagoevgrad is one of the largest towns in Southwestern Bulgaria.
